The Certificate II in Workplace Skills is aimed at developing foundational abilities and providing essential career preparation for the modern business environment. This entry level qualification will equip learners with many of the practical procedural, administrative and technological competencies required in the modern workforce. Students will develop these skills, capabilities and knowledge in defined business contexts related to their individual career aspirations. This includes regular opportunities to complete industry-based work experience. By the end of the certificate, students will have formed a clear connection between basic workplace skills and employment outcomes while supporting the development of crucial workplace readiness.

Selection advice

The Certificate II in Workplace Skills is recommended for Year 10 students who are looking at enrolling in the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) at Years 11 and 12. It is also suitable for Year 11 and 12 students who are keen to focus on getting work ready and are looking to undertake an apprenticeship or traineeship in the near future.
