Sustainable cooking program

Through hands-on cooking experiences, students will work collaboratively in a shared table cooking program focused on promoting sustainability, teamwork, and the use of seasonal produce. While gaining health, safety and nutritional knowledge, students will learn how to create meals that foster a sense of community and togetherness and develop shared responsibility and collaborative skills. Students will explore sustainability as it relates to food and the food system, such as reducing food waste, composting, and sourcing local, organic ingredients. Cultural awareness will be promoted by exploring diverse culinary traditions and cuisines, highlighting the cultural significance of food and meals, and promoting inclusivity through shared dining experiences. This program aims to empower students to make positive contributions to their communities, fostering a mindful approach to cooking and eating that emphasises sustainability and connectedness.
